I go there often and have always had a pleasant experience.
Love walking the trail and enjoying the river. Sometimes you can watch the kayaks training.
It was cold but fun. They didn't open the gates like other rivers will do and put lives in danger.
Such an awesome place to relax. You can go fishing or just watch some kayakers. I wish there was a real hiking trail though... There's a paved path but it is pretty short. There's also a very small trail that leads down to the water (probably from fishermen) but the path is too narrow and seems like a good place to get bitten by a snake. When the water is low you can access an island with tons of seashells and things. I hope one day they will make the park bigger.
The Ouachita River Whitewater Park is a gem in Central Arkansas. The therapeutic value afforded by the flowing waters, as well as by the many trees and the natural rock formations, is tremendous. I highly recommend a visit to this beautiful park.
